Raising Chicks with a kitten

My kitties rub their paws together and thank you for their chicken nuggets.

Seriously, once they get past a certain size they might be ok but when the chickies are babies they are just cat toys/snacks.
I have chicks in my spare room and put a gate bolt on the door to make sure my 3 cats can't get in there. They sit outside the door and

pretty funny but I'm glad that bolt is on the door.

Im not sure about raising kittens with chicks, but raising a kitten in with adult chickens may work just fine.

I rescued a former "city" cat for our farm over 2 yr ago, and she hates other animals. With a passion. I have seen her rip a gash in a cow's nose when it sniffed her, and she chases my dog around the farm.

Anyway, the cat found the henhouse and the heatlamp, and has suddenly become our chickens' best friend. We only kept the heat lamps on for about 3 wk in the dead of winter (probably not neccesary because the chickens wouldnt lay under them in in the cold anyway), but the cat Hillary started to beg to go in the house. I watched her for about an hour, and she has been fine with them.

The cat only wants to go in at night, and I have watched her catch mice in the henhouse

(we have an oooold house built in the 50s), and she is almost protective of the chickens. She hangs out with them as they free range during the day and will yowl if she cannot sleep in their house at night.

Best of all, she is such a hateful cat and yowls so loudly, I am pretty sure no fixes or raccoons would get very far because she scares them away.
