I am raising 14 chicks. 6 are cochins and faverolles that are almost 5 weeks, and the other 8 I was told are olive eggers, ameracaunas, brahmas, and a silkie that are almost 3 weeks. If I put them together in a closed off section at the bottom of my coop will they be okay in there together? Ive seen them peck a little bit but they are supposed to be pretty much gentle breeds. Some of the almost 3 week old are almost as big as the almost 5 week olds. The only one I'm iffy about is the silkie, but it seems to stay close to the bigger ones and they seem to be protecting it. Just trying to keep them together in the coolest part of the coop out of the heat. Thanks!

Yea if the sizes are close then I’d try them. Also the little ones have the vast majority. And a little pecking is ok as long as they aren’t hurting them or stressing them too much where they’re hiding.

How big is the area they're going in to? As long as they have adequate space to get away from each other, it should be OK

It's the bottom area of two pallet coops built back to back, making one big double coop lol

So about 8x8? You should be fine.

When I went out to continue predator proofing, I realized that the bigger chicks were picking on three of my smaller chicks and one being a silkie, I didnt want to take any more chances, so I put up a fence wall in between them🙂 make them feel more secure until they get a little bit bigger. They are only in there during the day. At night the smaller babies still come inside the garage, and the bigger chicks go into their own smaller coop. 😁
