so a buddy of mine is incubating some chics. I have a whole spare room in my house I used for a sick hen (internally laying) so I have offered to raise the chics indoors for him until they are big enough to go outside ... This is all new to me and the info is overwhelming. I’m on a tight budget. And I mean single mom doing odd jobs budget lol. But I always make it work. I’m clever resourceful and I have a little more time then most to do things myself. I am in no way looking to compromise health or safety in any shortcuts but I can’t afford to be spending money in places I don’t have too. The information is all over the place.
The spare bedroom I plan on housing them in had a closet ripped out but all the framing is there. Its the perfect spot to Section into a brooding box... I have a chic water and food feeder. So I guess the next two biggest things are bedding and a heat lamp. And maybe a link to raising chics for dummies haha ... I have a hen but she was a bit older when she moved here.

The heating pad mama is a good, cost effective option for heat. I can't pull up the link right now, on phone, sorry. I used a folding toddler play fence for an exercise/ growing yard. Lined with a tarp or some cardboard it could be used indoors.

There are lots of ways to help keep costs down, just be creative:D
