raising chix with their mom

I've raised chix before, but this is my first time with a hen who hatched her own eggs. She has six and is a great mother, EXCEPT she keeps deliberately spilling their food. I'm using one of those long chick feeders with the little holes, and she just flips it right over. Any suggestions? And, anybody who's done this before, anything else I need to look out for?

What about anchoring the feeder to a board, you could just use some wire and tie it on. Or you could possibly even put a screw through the bottom of the feeder and into a board on the other side.

No other advice, mine are still babies.

Funny, funny. Yeah, try to anchor it with something, but probably the reason she is doing this is so that she can scratch up food for the chicks to show them what to eat. So,,,,I don't know,,,maybe scatter some chick feed around the feeder so she can do what she wants and she won't hurt herself trying to turn it over after you secure it.

Previous posters are correct. Mama is showing babies how to eat off the ground.

This is the natural way.
