Raising First Chicks in Hen house?

I'll be finished with my 8x12 Hen house in a couple of weeks. I have 24 chicks coming at the end of May. My question is - can they be raised in the Hen house or do they need to be raised initially in a brooder? I don't have power in the Hen house but could run an extension cord temporarily if needed for a heat source. Otherwise the brooder will be out in the garage. I'm in Arkansas so the day/night temperatures shouldn't be too bad. Thoughts?

Yes you absolutely can raise them in the coop with a heat source. IMO far easier on you, and it naturally acclimates them to being outside as well.
