Raising Friendly Buff Orpington and Wyandottes

I have a flock of eight chicks - 4 Buff Oprington and 4 Wyandottes. They appear to be reasonably open to being friendly and I have seen suggestions about showing them attention, holding them, and petting them. I have been doing so since I got them. Any other suggestions towards helping make them friendly and sociable?

Welcome! When we get chicks, I put down an old sheet on the floor, place a cardboard "fence" on it, get the chicks and sit myself down. They will love climbing over you! You'll have the opportunity to pet them, play with them (they'll peck your wriggling toes), and feed them (mine loved cucumber). Don't worry about poop -- the sheets washable, and so are you and your clothes! Don't forget chick grit if you feed them anything other than chick starter.
