Raising goslings with father and mother goose.

That is a great video love your place and all your animals. So funny momma trying to keep the chickens away and dear old dad in there feeding his face.
At least he wasn't being mean to his kids. I love those goslings they are gorgeous. :love

Thanks for sharing! PS maybe dad needs to get fed more often then he wouldn't be so piggy ;)

yea thats what i thought too but he eats all the time, thing is he doesn't get any starter crumble gosling food!

goose pair with six goslings out on their grazing run. they maintain the areas that are inconvenient to mow, like the swale ditch.

They are all so pretty and looks like they are doing a good job of keeping it mowed down. Do they ever get cactus thorns in them any where? That is some big cacti.

they've been going on the same grazing walk every day. they have kept the grass short, (where it grows). I have noticed that they like certain plants more than others. they go for soft clump grasses, the horse herb ground cover, and seeds and grains of native plants too.

they stay out of the cactus though--unlike the chickens--sometimes you can catch them jumping up to peck at the prickly pears! being the amusing little creatures that they are.

ok sure. well what I've noticed is they really like a native ground cover called "horse herb," they also like to eat the soft green clumping grasses and clovers.

I'm planning on seeding more forage for them during the next big Rain. but who knows when that'll be.

about zones, in permaculture we use zones to give different functions to the areas we choose. there are zones 1 through 5, (in decreasing order of maintenance and upkeep)

zone1= house and area of most activity
zone2= kitchen gardens, main crop gardens, small livestock, fruit trees, bee hives
zone3= four leggeds and timber production
zone4= wildlife habitat, timber production
zone5=natural areas
