Raising Guinea Fowl 101

Pics
Your knowledge and guidance on here are greatly appreciated Peeps! I've learned SO much from your postings and have never gotten any impression that you think you 'know it all'. Hey, people ask the questions and you're nice enough to help them out by sharing your experiences and knowledge with them! How else are us newbies gonna learn how to keep our feather-babies healthy, safe, and happy??

I think this paragraph is the clearest description I have ever read. thank you peeps. I was one of those who made the conclusion that if you didn't have the right feed you could tweak what you had, especially if you had only one or two to raise up. I apologize to everyone for those times when I have offered erroneous information.

I don't think of it as erroneous information deb, those that do not have access to high protein game bird formulated feeds have to find the happy medium somehow. There's just a lot of things to consider when you are feeding keets something other than what is recommended by the major breeders and hatcheries. I personally choose to error on the side of caution and suggest feeding keets only what's recommended by the professionals (especially for the first 6 wks)... rather than post info that could possibly harm someone's flock. The Guinea Fowl attrition rate is high enough as it is... I don't want to contribute any information that can add to it, if I can help it

Sorry if I seem cranky, or come across as a know it all... I'm just very opinionated about what I know nutritionally works well for raising healthy keets that grow into productive breeding stock in my flocks

Didn't mean to ruffle any feathers or insult anyone, I just try to help people raise healthy birds, to the best of my knowledge and experiences

X2 I love Peeps. Because of her I can actually get my guinea's to follow me around now.

PeepsCA, I have read MANY of your posts and have learned so much from the feedback that you have provided. The feeding of keets/guineas information is a great help for newbies and everyone else. Everything that you have talked about, recommended, etc , I have followed in your footsteps and provided the same care for my guineas. I am happy to say that I have not lost one single guinea to poor or lack of nutrition due to your knowledge about the higher protein and you sharing that on BYC. My guineas are VERY healthy and are beautiful thanks to you. I have not had one single issue with any diseases or illnesses with my guineas. You have helped so many people on this forum and I hope that you continue providing the much needed information that many of us need and so desperately want, so that we can continue being responsible guinea owners and provide excellent care to our guineas.

Keep up the excellent job PeepsCA!

I try really hard to help people out and post accurate info, but sometimes it's just so hard to express what I'm trying to say without it looking snippy or snooty tho

Might need to add that to your signature line

I think those of us who have read many of your posts know that, but it is hard to express "emotion" ie sarcasm, humor etc in writing. I believe your state of mind at the time you read something has a lot to do with how you interprate what you read.

on a similar note, if Kris or I are in a cranky mood, we tell the other in advance to keep in mind that a response or comments may not come from a "friendly" state of mind and not to take it personally. it has saved many a hurt feelings over 21 years of marrage.

Thanks for the suggestion, but as you can see, my sig is full

I always try to type from a friendly state of mind, because I post here to help, not pick fights or start arguments... but I can't always please everyone, lol.
Even if I did add a "snippy or snooty disclaimer" to my sig (lol), there's still bound to be one or 2 that won't like what I've written, no matter how I word it...
