Raising layers and meat birds together?

I was under the impression it shouldn't be done because of the different nutritional needs.

That's my understanding.

Layers need to be free-fed all the food they care to eat and they'll self-regulate.

Cornish X have to be feed restricted in some fashion so that they don't gorge themselves into an even earlier grave.

Do they all eat the same feed?

Yup these girls are about 8 and 10 months old

When we had ours we didn't feed anything special just chicken scratch and left overs they grew up normally and very healthy.
Also they are very poor layers
