Raising our 1st set of CX meaties

Oh no! Your over an 8th of the way there! Lol

Your birds are looking good. I am finding out just how much they can eat. Sorry to hear about crook.

I'm so ready to be DONE with mine. I'm really thinking about selling them off. This is time consuming - especially when 1 person is caring for 100 broilers and 300+ other animals. I'm a 1 woman show. :hit

Shes still hanging in there! Tiny as ever

400

Awwwwwwww. Cute little baby. What are your plans for her?

Yea but this is so time consuming. I wonder if it would be easier in the summer time and I put them in a special brooder. I may re-think the next batch.

She'll grow with each set of meaties. Lol the new lil peeps were meaner than her original group lol when she can hang on her own and reach the waterer cups she can live with my layers. I have rescues too but they are old bittys and don't like the chicks one bit lol but my layers are pretty accepting so we shall see!

Even the hubby helps her out practicing using the cups lol she was running around with the big chicks today doing great so I dunno. I was thinking of culling her, but everytime I think that she may need to be put down, she gets all cute and acts so tough so she's got spunk!

I think spring batch will be the easiest/cheapest and overall a breeze...warms temps to put them out from day 3! Tons of fresh bugs/plants/new fodder thriving...I think we will do a large batch then especially

Only thing is for the spring, I won't be able to get the cheap price that I got this batch. They only sell one time each year and you have to order in November with an arrival date in January. With paying such a cheap price, I doubt seriously if I pay hatchery cost. That is WAY too much money to pay. I would pay that for pullets but not for broilers.

Purely had the best price since they had free shipping. If you do do another let me know :) still expensive but get cheaper in higher numbers
