Raising our 1st set of CX meaties

Hubby got me a mixer. These meaties can pound 5 gallon buckets of feed. This is a HUGE time saver for me.

I suppose, dressed weight in proportion to body weight could depend on how much they ate before you butchered. I took one of my CX Roos late in the evening, and just his crop felt like weighed more than some of my hens!! he he!! Those CX can EAT!

They can eat!
We only feed twice a day and they're still growing and no signs of leg/overweight issues.
Crooks not doing so hot :/ still eating, drinking, but her lame leg is causing her to sit sideways and walk funny. This will cause a problem with the side of her body being in contact with ground constantly. It's already starting to wear on the feathers. Is this a point we throw in the towel and cull? Or try and correct, again. Obviously the correction attempts previously were temporary if the issues are still continuing. She started out with a splay. Corrected. Head flipped upsidedown. Corrected. Got trampled by siblings and the other leg splayed. Attempted leg correction with bandaid and seemed all was ok, now this, laying on her side almost, eats n drinks just fine. New meatie chicks are suffocating her in a game they call pigpile, they'll probably eat her if she stays on her side :/, ok maybe not but... Omg lol. :thud when she's separated even with a foster stuffed animal, she peeps for hours...I don't know what to do next.

Your birds are looking good. I am finding out just how much they can eat. Sorry to hear about crook.

I'm so ready to be DONE with mine. I'm really thinking about selling them off. This is time consuming - especially when 1 person is caring for 100 broilers and 300+ other animals. I'm a 1 woman show. :hit
