With all of the water channels full, my little giant has a humidity of about 40%. Any idea what I should use to raise the humidity as I get close to hatching time? Should I use a sponge? If so, I worry about the chemicals in the sponge. I'd appreciate any thoughts.

I use a couple different things (all at the same time) - a lid with a folded paper towel, a contain (cottage cheese type) with a cut sponge and another smaller container with another two folded paper towels - half of the paper towel sticks up out of the water - like a wick.

My area is very dry so it can be a challenge to raise humidity for lockdown. I have to replenish my water daily during lockdown, so use hot water when refilling.

I use sponges. They work great! I havent ever had a problem with them. Just wash them in warm water before you use them!

I also use a whole sponge and hot water. I also bought some aquariun hose at walmart, i run 3 lines into the channels and out the top of one hole. I use a baby medicine syringe to fill the channels without opening the bator during lockdown when humidity is so crucial. I also use a straw and funnel to wet the sponge through the hole.

I use a lid to a baby bottle (the little cap) and but hot water in it and sit it in a egg holder in my turner. On the outside edge near the element. The other thing I use I got off ebay and they work awesome!! is the tiny humidity pillows, I can get the humidity in mine up to 87% if I need it that high by doing these things. If you don't have a turner, before I got mine I used a glass candle lid and put hot water in it and put it in the middle of the incubator it also helped it get high. Hope this helps.

I'm so glad I live in Florida- no worries about humidity here!

I bought a pack of Poise pads just for my LG. Man, those things hold about a quart of water!
i didn't have to add water for the entire lockdown. Here's a fuzzy pic (sorry about quality) of quail hatching with the pad behind it.
