Iv been studying up on Plymouth Rocks and his name comes up alot. My Question is who is he. I hope this is not a stupid question.

Long time, old time breeder of Plymouth Rocks. Ralph has been dead for some time. He wrote a great book on line breeding: "Start Where You Are With What You Have". It's out of print but worth searching for.

Thanks, It sounds like a great read. Ill keep my eye out for one. I am interested in breeding Barred Rocks. I have 1 rooster and 6 hens. If anybody has this book that they would sell let me know.

Ralph Sturgeon bred the E.B.Thompson line of Barred Rocks for many years. He lived to be over 100 years old ,died Nov.27,1993. His book has been reprinted and is available from Ian Selby ;www.poultrynz.com

Would you happen to have any pictures of your birds? Jeremy Whoepel has Ralph's old line and he sells hatching eggs. He has some pretty nice birds

Its pourin rain here. Ill try to get pics tomorrow. Thanks for the referal but im in the process of moving. When i get settled in and get some pens built ill look him up.
