Ramp angle???

Our coop is 24" elevated. The ramp is 54" long. They sit on it sometimes, so it is an area that needs occasional scrapping. I might shorten the ramp a bit soon. I could afford to put in a few more horizontal slats. I agree with the idea that 40" might be a bit high. The 24" height allows a nice area under. Lets the wheel barrow fit nicely for the rare full clean out. The whole run is deep litter so no cleaning outside. 20180128_131033.jpg
 
I built and rebuilt ramps for my elevated coop. I didn't like the look or the way they fit the run so I scrapped 'em and made steps out of half and full cinder blocks.
Looks better to me, takes up no room comparatively and the chickens have no issues whatsoever going up and down 'em.
