Ramp into henhouse

What about a roundish boulder type rock?

PS - I originally didn't have "rungs" on my ramp and after sliding down it on their booties a couple of times, my girls refused to use it. It was funny, until they wouldn't go in/out of their mansion. Nothing that a couple pieces of scrap didn't fix... live and learn....

Hey, I like the shingle idea. Probably helps keep those toenails filed down too!

I used a 1" x 12" with small branches screwed to it every 4-6"s with scrap hardware cloth directly on the board under the branches, my ramp is over 4' long though.

Could someone help me with knowing how long the run needs to be for a 38 inch rise? Our henhouse is above the coop, at 38 inches. How steep a ramp can chickens go up? I have four chicks that will be mid-sized hens (eg. Plymouth Rock, RI Red).

Thanks!
