Ramp question

Hi all,
I am trying to think up ways of using my scraps of wood to help with the ramp rungs. Here is a link to a Google sketch-up of what I was thinking. Do you think it will work? I don't have any scraps of wood long enough to go all the way across the board. Let me know what you think?

The rungs don't need to go all the way across. They may not even use them unless your ramp is very steep.
