ramps to the nesting boxes

here's another stupid question from someone new to chicken raising. I'm preparing to build my nesting boxes. how high off of the floor and do the chickens need ramps to walk up to the nests or do they fly up? ( I hear you laughing)

It depends on how high you want them, if you want them high than they will probally need a ramp. Mine a 4 feet off the ground and the chickens can jump right up there. They have a support beam going across so they can hop on that, then choose a nest box. If their wings are clipped they will probally need a ramp.

Mine are only 8 inches off the floor, no ramp. How high are you planning on putting yours and what breeds do you have?

Is it bad to just put them on the floor? That is what we were planning to do with ours.
