Some do but I'm not sure who. I do hear a few roosters crowing every once in a while.

I'm thinking that maybe one of your neighbors had chicks, and they wandered off.

Maybe your hens or the roo jumped the fence and mated your hens? and then a hen got broody perhaps????

I was thinking that could be possible, but wouldn't the hen be taking care of the chicks?

Do you have chicken wire around your run or a different type of wire? If it is chicken wire it would be hard for any chicks to get in, if it is a different type of wire they could have just wondered in?? Just a thought.

i've had a hen that got broody once and i put eggs under her and she left them halfway through

Yeah, I guess she could have abandoned them. But OP said they aren't any of the breeds they have.
