Random chicks...

So we went to lowes and picked up a camera. I also picked up a lock for the gate. Chicks are in a brooder in our garage with heat, feed, and water. Neighbor came over today and said she was going to try and get a small coop and run then would take them back. I told her too bad, they're mine now. I'm not going to feed them and care for them until she decides to figure it out. Had she asked then maybe (big maybe because of the circumstances)but she exposed those chicks to my Mg flock and I dont trust her to properly care for them and keep it from spreading. She said shes going to call the cops. Be my freaking guest. I even texted her again last night to get it in writing that she threw them in there so she couldnt claim I stole them. Might egg her house and blame it on the chickens.

I’m sorry. That sounds SO frustrating. If she want to get more chicks, she can buy her own again. I’m so sorry that you have to deal with this.

I'd rather she didnt. But of course I can not control what she does. Shes just one of those people who will like them until they get hard to deal with, which took less than 1 day with her first batch.

Some people don’t understand that keeping and caring for chickens ARE a job.

Time to pick up a bunch of "NO TRESSPASSING" and "NO DUMPING" signs too. Then if she steps into your yard or puts anything inside your fence, on camera, you have legal recourse.

Considering the history, I wouldn't put it past this gal to buy more chicks, then dump them all in your yard when they get sick (which is inevitable, because she won't care for them properly.)

Time to pick up a bunch of "NO TRESSPASSING" and "NO DUMPING" signs too. Then if she steps into your yard or puts anything inside your fence, on camera, you have legal recourse.

Good idea. I'll make sure to grab some when I'm out again. She definitely wont care for them properly. I really dont know what shes thinking. Shes gone through a dog, some turtles, these chicks, heck she couldnt even take care of a cat she got. All you have to do is feed those.

I've just read it, it's better that I even don't express what I think about...

I'm just not going to even reply anymore. She kept asking me how to care for chicks and I told her to come here and do the research. At least she listened and hopefully she will do better if she does get more chicks. She wont be able to throw them in my run again.
