I’ve had 2 hens both hatched this spring that I’ve found randomly dead inside the coop. First one was over 2 months ago then again this morning. No sicknesses no apparent injuries. I have noticed I do have some wasp/ bees that are getting into the coop I’m assuming through the pop door and then getting stuck in the windows between the hardware cloth and screen. I’m not sure what else could be causing these deaths?? Should I remove the screens or would that just give more of an opportunity for bugs to get in? Is there something else I can do to help minimize bees and wasp?

I seriously doubt that your chicken died from a bee or wasp sting. I have bees and wasps everywhere and have never had a chicken die from a sting. I have never even seen any evidence that one has been stung.

You should have either sent the bodies in or at least attempted to do a necropsy so that you might have an idea why they died.

Where do you send them to and any idea of the cost and how long it takes? It’s too late now but something I should know. Is there a good sticky on doing necropsy?
