I love hearing about what others are doing in their gardens or about their plants! (House plants or outdoor plants) I love plants and have a number of them myself. It’s always fun to see what others do for their gardens and I love seeing various ideas of what you can do with your garden and plants! This is going to just be a fun thread where people can talk about random stuff involving their gardens or plants. They can share what they’ve been doing in or with the garden/plants and show pictures if they like. Have fun everyone! Can’t wait to see what everyone’s been up to!😁🪴

It's not very glamorous, but I've been taking advantage of the unseasonably warm weather to scoop up wheelbarrows full of aged goat poop and spread it over the main veggie garden with plans to incorporate it into the existing soil before spring.

Indoors, despite my best efforts, I am slowly killing a coleus (who CAN'T keep a coleus alive?) that I brought in because with its purple-veined green leaves I simply couldn't leave it to die outdoors

Nice! Goat poop is great for soil and plants! We cleaned out our chicken coop a couple months ago and put the pine shavings and droppings in our compost. Coleus plants are so pretty! I would love to get one soon😁

I can’t keep coleus alive either lol.

I’m in the process of setting up an apple tree guild, just transplanted some chaste trees into pots and scouting spots to plant the various other things I’ve ordered for Spring. Meanwhile my indoor plants seem to be doing ok. One of the palms was struggling for a while until I moved it to a spot with less direct light. Got out my seed mat and grow light to start some flowers and herbs.

I occupied some public misused land beside my local river 6 years ago and I've been developing a native fruit Forest using some permaculture techniques and mostly agroecology methods to produce healthy and toxic chemicals free food for me and my wife. In between the trees I grow all kind of small crops of veggies edible leaves and several local edible roots and rhizomes...also have medicinal plants growing between crops and i allow all native wild flowers bushes and grasses to have their space so the food don't get eaten by pests. We have a bee box for pollination not the honey...I also have my chicken breeding program running on moving tractors all along the forest. It's an awesome experience

I have been thinking of building a large garden in my woods. A tall garden with tight paths, kind of like a maze with a large center. I want lots of pretty plants too, but I don't know what kinds? Can anybody help me with the design and plants?

That sounds like a great idea! I bet that’ll be really pretty! What kinds of plants are you wanting? Succulents, flowers, fruit, veggies, etc. Or a mix of kinds?

Depending on how far back in the woods it is, it sounds like it doesn’t get a lot of light. This would eliminate ful sun plants like the majority of fruits and veggies. There are plenty of low-light ornamental trees, as well as ferns, kale, and cabbage/broccoli (you can by ornamental cabbages and kale as well).

Here is the layout I made, still in progress. The section with fence looking thing on top is my run and I want some plants in there that the ducks won't eat. Any kind of plant. And then on the outside where there is a brown perimeter I want the path and garden plants. It is more for looks but maybe some fruits and veggies too. Most should be tall though for the experience!

The design is still in progress.
