Very nice shots! How did you get them to pose?
Hi Aunt Angus, I haven't been on here in quite some time but decided to take advantage of a gray dreary day and check out your flock again. I'm saddened to hear that others have been less than kind to you. To my mind your flock is adorable and your coop and run are lovely. I guess the "pecking order" exists beyond our flocks. *sigh* My flock is finally becoming cohesive. There was one (Aster) who was always being picked on, but within the last week she is foraging with the rest of the flock. They sure can be puzzling sometimes. Those are beautiful roosters!
And OMIGOSH! Your avatar!!! What a cutie!!! My boys are all old now (my youngest is 22). Is that little one yours????
And thanks as always, Chris, for your kind words. I don't exactly know why, but internet communications often forego common courtesy. It rankles sometimes.
That is wonderful news! Congratulations!Well, it looks very likely that we are MOVING!
It's not as big a property as I wanted, but it's right by the ocean, and summers won't be hot for my flock anymore. It really is my dream house in most ways. It has a well-developed garden and lots of out buildings, including 4 different sheds.
The chickens will be getting a brand new home. The new house is actually a very old house (a Victorian farmhouse), and the flock will get the oldest outbuilding. It will take some converting, but it has gorgeous leaded windows, but also new roof shingles. Hubby and I will paint the inside, hinge the windows, and add lots of ventilation. I want to add an auto coop door, too. And we will take our welded wire, covered run with us. And I will add electric to the perimeter because of our new rural location near both the beach and the redwoods.
And, yes, we chose this place largely so we can keep our little flock! I'm not sure about roosters, but we will see. U have 2 homes available for little Picotee if the county has restrictions. My neighbors will be sheep farmers. Fingers crossed...
So many new adventures to come!!!
It sounds beautiful! Near the beach AND redwoods! I feel very envious sitting here in my gray chilly southwest Ohio. Next week true winter arrives. I hope my flock gets acclimated to high temps in the mid 20's! I have to admit though, that watching them navigate their first encounter with snow was entertaining.Well, it looks very likely that we are MOVING!
