*Random Question about floppy combs*

I raise Silkies but I do have egg layers. My question is this... Are floppy combs (in single combs) a genetic trait? I ask because I hatched some of my RIR eggs and my hen with the floppy comb had floppy comb offspring. I know it's a little silly, but I'm curious.

It is a heritable trait.

Also, it seems difficult to get rid of with simple selection.
