What type of rooster is this? He came to my farm a bit ago and started crowing at my hens in the morning, and now he’s become bold and is hanging out with them.

'Meanness' mostly comes from how a bird is raised.

Generally, they are great chicken protectors, good for free ranging your (their) hens. Not people chickens and don’t want another rooster close to them. Considered independent probably why he left his area and found your girls.
