We built an incubator and want to hatch are own.We have 1 roo and 30 chickens,do we put all the eggs in the bator,can you candle and tell right away,if you put eggs in bator and they are not fertile what do you do with egg.Love the site thanks for the help.

I would say candle at 7 days and if anything looks possbile leave it and check again in 3 or 4 days. you cant tell immediately if its fertile or not. If they aren't fertile after day 7 and still candle clear i pitch them in the trash.

30 is just to many for 1 roo. Any chance you can pick out about 6-8 of your best and pen seperately with the roo for a couple of weeks. the hens should all be fertile after that.
