I've got 35 Red Rangers who are 2 weeks old. We got them later than planned, and I wound up having to have a pet sitter watch them this week. I got back, and about half of them look like this - their crops feel fine, but are huge, and their feathers are matted. I'm guessing the crops are normal meat bird growth and the matting is either a ventilation issue, or due to the fact that the sitter didn't add enough shavings and they've been walking around on damp litter. But I'm not sure. Any chance this is something more serious?

Cut their feed down for a day to let them digest the food, for the feathers dry them out and give them warm shavings. I use a hairdryer on low to treat matted feathers.
