Rant about people stereotyping all roosters as mean!

Some roosters are mean. Just like some people are. In my experience, most aren't. But, if you do have a mean one, cull it. Before it hurts you, a child, or a loved pet.

Draco. Definitely not a mean boy. He thinks he is a parakeet lol

Marty. He even puts up with me wanting to snuggle his fluffy butt. He's such a sweet, good boy.

Marty with a broody and her chicks. He still feeds the 6 week chicks even though mama kicked them out.

THANK YOU!! I don't know why this one is so mean! I know he is just trying to protect the girls (which I hold) but he will try to spur me and everything! And don't even get me started about collecting eggs!!! UGHH

LOL I know right! the picture of Zeus the Orpington he is a sweetheart!! They don't get much sweeter, my little snot was........ a red silkie named Flame believe it or not. Go figure!( he is no longer with us needless to say I couldn't stand him and he hated everyone. He would rather fight ya then look at ya, Out of all the Roos Ive had so far he was the only one that gave me grief. ) Heres a picture of the little snot!

Yep LOL i like silkies and all but i like big chickens better like Easter Eggrs or Orpingtons

I got a 1yo rooster off of craigs after posting a request for a free nice roo. He is freaking awesome! He has never attacked any of the kids.Only went for me(never touched me) when a hen was yapping as I got her out of some bird netting on the grapes.
Our roo has many names.Limpy,Roo roo,Jack Sparrow, and lately Jackie Chan. I have to say this rooster was the best thing I ever got off craigs. I am so thankful the lady in PA offered him,and that dh drove me and the kids to get him. He is good to his ladies.Watches for hawks.Calls them over to him when he finds food.
We will be so sad when he is dead.

My young roo Brie fostering a little chick (Brooke)

Brie and Brooke today... he's still very protective of her. He feeds her by passing food to her with his beak and keeps her warm at night by draping a wing over her... his improvisation since she's too big to sit on now, lol.

Overall, he's a little cuddle bug! He's actually much friendlier than my hens. I can flip him over onto his back and cradle him like a baby. He'll fall asleep this way. This is the first roo I have ever had, so I don't know what is normal behavior. I do love him dearly, and I'm so glad that he's part of the flock.
