Speaking of this:

A guy who's really into history, and Civil War history in particular, had the opportunity to be in a Civil War re-enactment. He RENTED a horse for the occasion, and everyone is lined up and ready, in full costume/uniform, guns and cannons at the ready. At the first shot, his horse fell over dead from an apparent heart attack.

A. How anti-climactic.
B. Poor horse.
C. What do you do now? Return him?

I am not saying this to be mean but those types of statements irritate me with the lack of common sense behind it...

Why on earth would someone give away a horse that they loved, cared for and could afford? The answer...they do not. They sell them. People are getting rid of horses and sending them to slaughter daily because they cannot afford to feed them or take proper care of them. So, to find them a good home or make it someone else's problem, they are going to tell you what you want to hear.
