Ranting: Giving away my eggs....

My wife would agree with the sentiments here about repeating things and being specific...

As they often say on the Red Green show:

"We can't help it; we're men... but we can change, if we have too, I guess."

LOL ... hunny... I dont let DH touch the eggs LOL... I do everything with them. IF he asks to give some to someone... I put the carton together for him and then write their name on the carton LOL>... that way I know thats all they get.

Whats the deal with people wanting your eggs. If you have lots of chickens ans sell your eggs than sure people can get them from you and pay for them. But these lazy not chicken owning people can go to the store and spend a dollar.

Well, a lot of people are curious to try a fresh chicken egg, and giving them a trial is fine, methinks. However, it is not to become a habitual thing as that costs money! Unless of course it is with close friends

What is worse is if someone comes by and STEALS your eggs!!

I don't have a lot of layers at the moment, I get anywhere from 1 to 5 eggs a day at the moment and sometimes none. My red star is usually the most reliable. I know at least one of my three barred rocks is laying. I have a bantam OEG that lays (where I can find the egg, the other 5 are laying who knows where), and a bantam jap that lays.

I could sell the eggs (once I get more that are laying), but around here the market is kinda tough. Everyone's too cheap. They don't want to spend more than maybe a $1 per dozen.

Ye 'ole puppy dogs generally take care of that.

I just have to keep an eye out for any snakes that get past the cats! Coons and possums aren't usually a problem either because of the dogs and cats.

Girls, girls, girls, please watch the Red/Green show just once and you will see where men are coming from...duh! I can only shake my head when I see my dh watch that show and agree with them. he isn't aware it is still on the air and I am not telling him.

Ugh. I feel your pain.. My DH gave a dozen eggs to some random contractor that gave us a bid once. I was a little ticked. But my girls went on to lay some more.

I guess the upside of it is it kind of showed how proud he was of our chickens. At first he thought I was absolutely nuts for wanting them, but he's come around.

When I brought home more bantams, he asked "Whyyyyy?" lol, I said because they're cute! I didn't have any top hats, silkies, or frizzles.

Not that he had a choice, he's living in my house.
