Rantings to stop eating Free Range eggs~ please respond !

From my point of veiw (of what Catherine would think) of the 'rescueing turtles' what was done was continuing the fact that the seller did make his profit and nnow will continue to get turtles to sell...........
If he had no one buy turtles, he would thus have gone on to selling some other peoo helpless creature; humans in some parts of the world are so selfish and poor, and in many ways over populated to the point that they will exploit any animals in order to survive......sad.

Taking Catherine's philosophy, what would she do? Buy the turtles to save them from the pot or to leave them to their fate? Her beliefs work only if everyone holds the same ones. That's never going to happen. If it did, we would all be sitting in caves frightened to leave in case we trod on a bug.

There is a lack of moderation and practicality in her views and I still don't know how she reconciles them with keeping animals herself. I'm not a god botherer but the first part of the Serenity Prayer springs to mind:

God, give us grace to accept with serenity
the things that cannot be changed,
Courage to change the things
which should be changed,
and the Wisdom to distinguish
the one from the other.

Lots of misinformation here on the impact of eating or not eating animals....

Approximately 40% of the worlds grain is fed to agricultural animals. Stop producing food animals and you free up all that food for human consumption.

I
Well, maybe. But a lot of grain winds up being considered "unfit for human consumption" due to contamination by molds or whatnot. A lot of that grain gets turned into animal feed.

Approximately 40% of the worlds grain is fed to agricultural animals. Stop producing food animals and you free up all that food for human consumption. Or reduce it by have and you still have more food available. In the United States alone we feed enough grain to animals to feed at additional 840 million vegetarians. For every pound of meat produced 6 pound of grain are used. This means more water, fertilizer and land use for a meat based diet than for a plant based diet.

It takes about 220 gallons of water to produce 16oz of soybeans, and about 2000 gallons of water to produce 16 oz of beef.

I can't speak for anyone else here but my information is purely a result of a fantasy exercise.

No hard facts here. Just a fun what-if, stretching my imagination and all that.

She keeps saying stuff about roosters. Not every single one of us slaughters extra roosters. There's an egg trick to hatch out more girls too and it's worked wonderfully for me. I believe the pointier end of the egg, the rounder it is then there's a higher chance you get a pullet. It may not work with everyone but out of 8 eggs I only got one rooster from with silkies! I always have a big boy problem with silkies but this egg trick is going to fix all that.
I will be re-homing this rooster and 3 other roosters I have. Not butchering them.

And humans are omnivores. She says eating them isn't our right or something like that, HUMANS ARE OMNIVORES!!!! Didn't she attend school? Goodness gracious, humans have the choice to eat what they want but don't go saying that humans aren't supposed to eat meat like it's a scientific fact. No, factory farms to get meat and what not certainly is not natural and humans eat for taste nowadays not for survival, but I see nothing wrong with getting meat from a farmer who doesn't mass produce his animals.

The only thing I refuse to consume is beef and baby animals. I don't know if this is true or not but supposedly commercial bacon comes from young pigs so I'm trying to be very careful as to where I get my bacon from. I always thought you have to fatten up the pig... I usually eat thick sliced bacon because thin sliced to me is just terrible. And I don't like that poster with the "go vegan" picture. She's kind of ignorant..

I haven't gone back there since David lost control of his emotions. They stopped discussing and started throwing stones instead and it was obvious that no one was going to get any rational thoughts out of them, not that they had many to begin with but once the mud starts flying, it's all over - like a car crash - nothing more to see here folks. I'm sure they are trying to recover their wits and dignity right now but I don't want to witness it, just like I wouldn't want to see a mangled body pulled from a wrecked vehicle. It's like so many have said before, they are firm in their beliefs and they're not going to budge from them no matter how much common sense and reason others bring to the table. There is no two-way discussion on that blog. She is telling you how it is and that's that. Whatever you think is wrong... unless you happen to agree with her. Not worth my time.

Bacon comes from regular market hogs. Pigs are usually slaughtered when they reach market weight, which if memory serves, is between about 200 and 250 pounds or so. Pigs can be slaughtered at any age. There is quite a market for 90 to 100 pound pigs in some areas. They end up as whole hog BBQ. Old hogs are made into sausage and linguica.

Why won't you eat beef? Just curious.

I made some comments on Catherine's web page. To my surprise she printed them without any nasty comments. I missed Dave's meltdown. I don't plan on going back to the web page though. Waste of time. Their motto can be summed up as follows:

My mind is made up. Don't confuse me with the facts.
