Rare breed assortment

Hard to say on the rest then. 50% chance they are Barred Rocks, 50% chance they are Dominiques with wrong comb type.
Is it normal for them to have a 'wrong' comb? I have heard of that before. And in that case, how would you know that you have a Dominique and not a Barred Rock?

Its common in hatchery type rose combed breeds like Dominiques and Wyandottes. The hatcherys don't typically cull their flocks for defects so incorrect traits get passed on.

As far as telling the difference for certain its nearly impossible with hatchery birds. In theory Dominiques should be a little larger and have finer barring than a Barred Rock. But with hatchery birds... they'll likely be identical.
