Actually, when I bought her she was supposed to be a Dominique. She is a Barreed Rock and hands down, the sweetest chicken you could ever meet.

Wouldn't trade her for the world.

hubby thinks it's a bit odd that i can look at a dozen eggs from our eight chickens and know exactly who laid what

Yes, it is so cool knowing who laid your eggs. My children do this too and select their eggs by chicken..."oh, I want one of Lily's and one of Miranda's" type thing. My husband just thinks we are all insane.​

A lady, upon seeing my Barred Rock hen, exclaimed, "a Dominecker!" I had to tell her it was a Barred Rock, but she insisted it was a "Dominecker."

And how was my mom doing when you saw her? LOL She calls any black and white striped chicken a "dominecker", which, of course, it THE proper name for the chicken. I don't bother trying to correct-- it really doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things.​
