I'm in the middle of an email conversation with my husband right now, trying to convince him why it will be a GREAT idea to get going on my idea to build another nice little bantam breeder pen/coop set up and why I NEED dutch bantams. I love OEGBs, but I'm never gonna dub combs to show them, so I don't have any. Dutch bantams would completely fulfill my need to have some flashy little bantams to take to the shows w/me. And they don't have white crests to pluck and try and keep clean like my Polish. I think they might be perfect.

All of my Polish pens have show quality birds. I will include extras if available, and I can also throw in a few Cuckoo Marans IF I have them available. My Cuckoo eggs were grand champion of the Marans Chicken Club USA egg show at the Susquehanna Poultry Club show a week ago.

Egg color has lightened up now, but I'm still getting decent eggs.

Crevecoeurs...How did yall know she just started laying 6 days ago.
One pullet laid her second egg two days ago. It was two days between her first and second egg, and I hear her out there squawking.
The other pullet hopefully will start laying soon.
I think I'll check the fertility on the first one. Those first two eggs are not fertile. I'll keep checking. Then it'll be a surprise egg, until both pullets start producing.
I heard said that those Crevecoeurs have tasty meat, they are not great layers (every other day aint bad), and not broody. As for foraging? I started letting one pen out per day to free-range. The first day they opened the gate, they looked at me like I was crazy and then I had to push them out and they didn't know what to do.
They've gotten better.

And a BIG "THANK YOU" goes out to FRANCIS FARMS for sending me that dozen black Sumatra eggs!!!Just got 'em, all perfect!
