Themellowyellows
Crowing
They do have lots of space and I have never seen a hen mount her like a rooster and I spend lots of times with them. It is on her belly going from around her vent to her crop. She does not sleep on the ground and most of the time sleeps standing up. I also noticed that she is missing some feathers from the belly, but also never saw a chicken pecking at her belly and not sure how they would peck there.Lots of info and images here on identifying lice and mites:

Skin that is exposed to light will often be red, doesn't mean there is a rash. If it's on her underside it could be feather picking by others, rubbing on a roost while roosting, sleeping in bedding or on the ground. If it's on her back, you may have a hen that is mounting like a rooster, it can happen, particularly if there is not a rooster in the flock. A dominant hen will sometimes take over. If you have a lot of birds pecking each other then you may not have enough space for them. Over crowding is a very common reason for feather picking.
Not sure if this has anything to do with it, but there are squirrels and chipmunks that occasionally go in and out of their coop, im trying to get them to stay away but its not very successful.
