So... I ran out of homemade raspberry jam. Being the skinflint I am, I bought a cheap jar and discovered it to be not to my liking at all and so I bought a different brand (still not as good as my homemade, but not disgusting).

So the "cheap" jar is sitting in my fridge doing nothing and I was wondering whether I can feed it to the girls.

I don't really know, but I wouldn't because I think it will be too sugary.

I am sure someone else will chip in soon.

I tend to weigh nutrition over anything else when I am deciding what to feed my girls.

No french fries, no chips, no donuts, no cookies, no cakes...

lots of cheese, eggs, cat food, chicken carcasses...

we tend to lean to the protein with lots of romaine lettuce.

Way too much sugar. You make your own so think about how much of that white stuff gets dumped into the pot for the average batch of jam

I'm a jam snob too, but have found heating it up and using it for ice cream topping is a good way to use up the jars we get in Christmas gift baskets (hillshire farms etc.) that's just not quite as good as fresh picked and homemade.
