Went out of town Friday came home today (Sunday) afternoon to at least 3 of my chickens sounding raspy... What in the heck caused this? And how can I fix it?? I spent a lot of time with them on Friday and never heard any of them doing it... I know out weather has been a little crazy (east tx) being real cool at night and hot in the day? Does this have something to do with it?
Please help!

Could be respiratory infection... or just that change in weather making them be somewhat under the weather. Keep an eye on it and see if there are any changes/spread to others or any other symptoms. It might clear up on it's own, as usually respiratory infections are viral and can't be helped with an antibacterial agent.

hi you can successfully treat respiratory illness with a antibiotic called Tylosin. the brand name of the medicine is Tylan50. dose is as follows large birds 1/2 cc small birds 1/4 cc given * once daily in the breast muscle. given for 5 days. you can find Tylan50 at the feed store along with the syringe. do NOT worry that the bottle says for cattle and swine. many poultry owners use Tylan50 to successfully treat respiratory illness including myself. Tylan50 is an excellent choice of antibiotics for respiratory illness. you should notice a significant improvement in a few days. I how this is helpful and wish you the best. start the Tylan 50 ASAP. this should rid the bird of these symptoms. good luck

If you decide to use Tylan 50 (Tylosin 50mg/ml), you might find this useful, it's the dosing info from Plumb's Veterinary Drug Handbook - 7 th Edition
