Rat dropping from poisoned rats.

Yep have to be careful where those bullets might end up. Are you over run with rabbits? Coyotes and foxes keep them in check here. and in summer our blk snakes that can get to 5-6' long keep the rodents in check but winter we have no help. lol

There is enough rabbits to keep me in sausages. i only eat meat that i have hunted or raised. so i dont mind the rabbits. and for some reason rabbits love hens. no mater where i put the hens, rabbits always appear. they will even creep past the dogs to get to the hens. the grass must be tasty that grows in with the hens.

Good for you. I don't mind rabbits either. I've never eaten any even though my dh was a hunter at one time. They aren't a pest here as they can be in other places.

I have never seen a rat...thankful for that. Although last night there was a knocking sound beneath my floor, like something was trapped. All I could think of was a mouse or rat. The outside access door is locked though so I had no idea what it was but I worried something was trapped down there. However something chewed up the entire end of my rubber spatula in one night and for the damage it had to be something big, but hopefully just a very hungry mouse.

When I see no rabbits, I know the fox will be on the lookout for my chickens.

@hayley3 what do you do with the live rats you catch? How far do they need to be taken away from the place they were born? I know I'll never get rid of all of them and that's not my intention just kind of get the numbers down. I had a large heavy duty trash can sitting out in my flocks yard and they chewed through it.
Letting a few mouse go, is not quite the same as letting a huge rat go. Never thought of that. I would try a pellet rifle if I had rats...I have a pellet GUN and they are useless in my opinion.

I’m trying Rat X mixed with peanut butter. It’s corn gluten which supposedly gums up their digestive tract. It’s non toxic to wild life. We will see how it works... but I’m pretty close to getting a cat or 2
The person who just bought my house, said he brought his 4 cats and they are not touching the mouse problem. I told him the black snakes will save him in the summer.

Home Depot. They won’t eat it plain because chicken feed is much tastier so I have to mix it with some peanut butter to get them to eat it. We will see what happens... don’t know if it works just yet
