Rat problem

I have used rat traps with sunflower seed hot glues to the bait lever, yet in the presence of other feeds it doesn't work. Try laying traps around with loose bait for a few days unset, they become comfortable with the trap and eating off it.. then after a few days set it. If there are kits in the rabbit holes I would seriously be concerned about them being eaten if they are small enough. I could send you a rat snake or two as well I kid LOL! A .22 with rat shot works amazingly as well quick kill. Sounds like a stake out, I can help! Good Luck with the nasty things.

They have been eating the kits for several months, every time the does give birth they get eaten by the rats.

Are you raising rabbits in a colony on the ground? Or in hutches off the ground. We shot a rat last weekend when I discovered a huge pile of rabbit feed in the corner of my shed about 20 feet from the rabbits. The thing with rabbits, everyone says to remove food at night, rabbits feed more at night and sleep in the day. At least in my experience, and a pregnant/ nursing doe needs a good supply for her and her eventually nibbling kits. My hutches are covered in 1/2 inch hardware cloth and off the ground, have yet (knock on wood) to loose one to a predator of any kind. In this case, maybe a heavy number of traps set around may help. So sad for mom rabbits and kits. That alone would push me to laying on the ground at night waiting with a gun. How frustrating for you
