Not to take away from Al's sales but for you do it yourself types, there's plans for the other kind of treadle feeder here: https://www.backyardchickens.com/web/viewblog.php?id=56638-building-a-treadle-feeder That's what I made and use. I have to lock it at night to keep Possums out of it but a brick on the upper flap does that perfectly. It's true, they will get konked in the noggin if they're not standing on the treadle and the one on the treadle jumps off, but not enough to hurt, and they learn to move their head really fast lol.

I've seen the plans but for that price, I'd rather buy it. I'm not handy enough to make something like this. I can make basic stuff but this kind of thing has too many moving parts and is too reliant on precision.

Understood. Just throwing it out there so people who do want to try it will know about it.

Okay, got the small feeders done and packed. I'll make a new ad for the small feeders, get it running on BYC, and update my website to include the smaller feeder on Sunday.

Price is going to have to be the same as the medium. The metal bottom and double counterweight add substancially to the cost. At least the shipping will be cheaper. Just ask for the small feeder otherwise I'll ship a medium.

I mounted one medium and one small on the wall of my coop to keep them out of the litter. The chickens perch up there while eating then step down. The rats are nearly gone, one or two still hanging around and boy are they thin! I nticed that the eggs are disappearing so I might have to make a rat resistant nest box somehow. : (

I know it's been awhile, but I just wanted to say my chickens are using the 2 small feeders and they are fabulous! It took a bit of getting used to, but eventually it's like they've always used them. Great quality, terrific price. So glad to have purchased them. They make my life much easier. And not a rodent dropping in sight! Thanks so much, Al!

It's funny how the rodent problem goes away if there's no food available.
Unfortunately, they must go to my neighbor's coop-lots and lots of food there!

i would be interested in buying one ,still looking for the index page.

I like to support folks who are starting out with a new business and really like your product so I sent you an email thru your website to purchase two smaller feeders!
