I have had my chickens and ducks for two years. This year is our coldest winter so far with them. I have noticed that I have a lot of burrows going under my coops and cinderblocks. We today let the birds wonder the yard! We used a smoke rat bomb that is suppose to kill them. We found like 8 entries and exits. How else can I get rid of these pesky rodents! My chickens and ducks roam around the yard in the pen where there coops are inside the penned in area,....please help! I don't want to use poison since my birds roam around!

Hello & welcome,
Tomcat & other brands make static bait stations that I use around my coop. The rodents go in, eat their fill come back out and eventually die. The poison used is sufficient for the rodent only and cannot harm dogs, cats, birds etc (so they say). I haven't had any problems with them and I keep one inside the coop just in case! Sue

I had a similar problem last week. I found piles of droppings near my coop under the woodpile. I set my repeating rat trap and caught all 11 in one night. It was gross, and I was disappointed with myself for not noticing earlier.

I bought mine from cooperseeds.com, but their website looks different now. this new one is terrible, but the trap works great: http://www.airag.com/Fireants/More2/pages/traps/rats.html

I don't recommend their bait...only the trap.
