RATS-Questions

You could try mint. If you want to try the all natural approach. Rodents hate the smell of mint so place it outside the coop. I saw this in lisa steeles book "fresh eggs daily"
Lisa Steele isn't what I would call a reliable source.

At some point, she posted that Purina allflock raiser is formulated to put weight on ducks and chicks and shouldn't be used for pets because "It'll hurt their little legs" (Pretty sure I'm paraphrasing here.)

If rats have an established population of rats, and they have a ready source of food, they're not going to care about the occasional smell of mint. Cats don't like the smell of citrus, but mine still still want petted after I peel an orange.
