I don’t know how to tell the difference. Here’s a zoomed in pic of its tail.Which is it?
I don't see a tail and nothing for scale.
Really?I believe it's a shrew.
Just going by the face. I could be wrong. Shrew have tiny eyes and ears, and long pointed noses. We get them in our basement traps occasionally, or the dogs get a hold of them. Seeing the face better might help. Shrew usually have a shorter tail as well.Really?
wow! Well if I see another I’ll be sure to take better pics. I’m not good at identifying rodents so I have no clue if they’re even rats at all. But they’re rodents for sure.Just going by the face. I could be wrong. Shrew have tiny eyes and ears, and long pointed noses. We get them in our basement traps occasionally, or the dogs get a hold of them. Seeing the face better might help. That was my first thought.I believe it's a shrew.
..and the tail tells the tale! Shrew. Here’s a zoomed in pic of its tail.
Always put something down for scale when taking pics for ID.Well if I see another I’ll be sure to take better pics.
Could be.Looks like a vole to me. They do make LOTS of tunnels. Would be awesome if you don't have rats after all! Voles won't bother your chickens or chicken feed.
