Rats, rats EVERYWHERE! ☹️

Pics
Someone once told me I should keep the possums in my neighborhood, as they eat mice and rats, which will worry my hens and take my eggs.
Well, possums do eat mice and rats, they also eat eggs and chickens. I would rather deal with the rats myself, than to have to deal with rats and possums. :barnie

Here’s one of the holes. It was getting dark and I didn’t have anything for scale with me. But I’ll get one with a “scale item” tomorrow.

I lost 2 birds to a possum earlier this year. My neighbor finally shot it. :woot

We have no voles that tunnel like that here. I am not even sure we have any larger than a small mouse.

We have some moles but their tunnels are just humped on just under the surface.

But we have pocket gophers that make huge piles and striped gophers that make tunnels like the one in the picture. But I have never seen one in a building.

I believe there are several different varieties of voles. The ones we have here are about 5 to 6 inches long. They make underground tunnels and also above ground tunnels that look like this -
