I posted some time ago. I treated my hen's rattle with a full package of duromycin with no fix. Then, I wormed them just to be on the safe side. Then I read about Oxine, so I got some and have misted them (vaporizor all night for 5 nights) and the rattle/cough went away. It's hot here, and humid, (deep south). The girls eat and lay fine, egg/bird/day. They are out most of the day every day, have shade, shelter from our rainstorms, fresh water, dry dirt for dust baths, get all kinds of fresh green/etc from the garden. I'm at a loss for what to try now. I plan to start the oxine vapor again tonight since it worked before and this is just a mild rattle at this point, not as bad as before. She acts and appears fine. Any suggestions? Thanks.

This may be a case of mycoplasma (CRD) and it will probably keep happening since it is never really cured. Do you have other chickens? Do any of them seem affected? It's good that the oxine helps.

I have 2 hens. Both seem fine, but only the one has the rattle. I got them right after Easter (got a chicken tractor in my Easter Basket--big bunny!). We noticed the rattle right away. So, if it's mycoplasma, what do I do for it? I'd like it cured, but I probably won't get more chickens anytime soon. Would butcher these first, clean thoroughly and then get more. But, as long as we get 2 eggs/day they're cheap to keep and great entertainment to watch.
