Here are some pictures of Raven and her three polish chicks! She has had them for a week and she is a great mother. I just love it when I see their little heads sticking out of Raven's wings. Does anyone have a hen raising chicks right now? Feel free to post pictures of your broody hen and her chicks.:D

That is so sweet:love

My Silkie is broody now.... stays on nest and hasn’t laid in awhile.. I wonder if I can stick my new one week old chicks under her:confused:.. would that work??
It could, but how long has she been broody? If she has been broody for close to three weeks then she will most likely accept the chicks. It also comes down to whether or not the chicks will accept her. Since the chicks are only a week old it could work, but you never know unless you try. If you decide to give her the chicks then will need to do it at night while all the chickens are calm.

Okay, thanks.. I’ll think about it.. I thought maybe I would separate her in her own coop? Should I do that?
I think I’d be too scared to just put them in with all the big gals:oops:

Yes, it would be best to separate her from the other chickens if you are going to go through with it. If you decide to do it, then please update us! Good luck!
