Raw Dog Food?

I have fed 100% prey model raw for almost five years. Just a variety of raw meat, bones and organs. Really, thats all dogs require as long as there is variety. Here is a link for some info.....http://preymodelraw.com

FYI...Some dogs do fine, but it's not recommended to feed raw and processed kibble together. The two digest at different rates because one is species appropriate, the other processed and cooked to death. It can cause digestive upset.

Just do be sure to read the link I posted, and do some research first. Raw isn't just throwing any meat anytime to a dog and being done with it. There is a way to start, and work through the proteins and some important stuff to know about it. If done wrong, you could have a dog lacking in lots of very important nutrients.

The prey model site is very in depth and informative, just dig through it. There is a really helpful getting started guide on it as well.

What do you do while feeding raw food on vacation? Do you switch back to wet food?

If you take the dogs with you, just grab meat at a grocery. If you board them, some places will feed the raw food, especially if you use a pre-packaged ground version. What we typically do is have a dog sitter come to our place twice a day and I package up enough days of food in individual labelled bags. The few times I've taken one dog with me on vacation we just made sure to stay somewhere we had at least a small fridge for his meat every day.

I've been doing raw for 6 years, never had to take them off it. We do prey-model, and just stick to basic stuff like chicken when having someone else care for them. They're fine without fancy stuff for a week or two.

Keep in mind, dogs evolved by living off our leftovers. So if you don't get it 100% perfect for a week, they will be fine. Just do the research first so you understand the ratios you need, and be prepared to have to defend yourself non stop. :p
