So I've recently started drinking raw eggs for quick protein after working out. Are there many risks with doing this? I use only very clean, fresh eggs. Thanks.

I have heard of salmonella being a risk, though rare it is still a risk.

Just to stay on the safe side, I would coddle your eggs prior to eating them raw. Basically coddling requires setting an egg in boiling water for a short amount of time and then quickly placing the eggs in ice water. This helps kill the harmful bacteria. You can find more in depth instructions online.

Good Luck!

I don't worry about it with my own home raised eggs. I know how they've been handled, how they've been stored, and how well they have been washed.

Also, I know the health of my own flock.

I don't drink raw eggs (yuck) but I do use raw eggs in my home made mayonnaise and aoli.
