update, had six eggs hatch. Out of fifteen, three or four were infertile. The rest developed but I never did crack them open to see where they stopped and stuff. Am going on round two now with 24 sitting in egg cartons this time rather than messing with the flimsy egg rails they provided. This seems much better. We'll see in a few weeks what results!

Done with round two! This time around I left the eggs in the egg cartons set inside the incubator and they did just fine this way. Out of 24 eggs, I had five infertile and the rest hatched. Two chicks had umbilical problems. They all hatched earlier than they should have. I really need to back down on the temp a bit but it's hard to do when you have three thermometers in there and I'm noticing the bator doesn't hold temps steady as it rocks side to side. So anyhow, for the most part I'm very happy with how this incubator is working. But will upgrade to the Brinsea down the road. I love how easy it is to clean up. But mine too also makes funny noise at times with the fan. But it can pull out of that. So I too can't recommend this incubator to anyone. But I am enjoying it for the moment. Till it dies on me...

Mine made noise with the fan, turned out when I cleaned it I put the humidity tube to close to the fan and it was vibrating against it, moving it fixed that, now its running quiet. Right now its at the school for another school hatch, eggs go in this week. Its great for at school because its not stressful for the teacher, no cooked eggs, no turning by hand, no worry about filling internal resevoirs.

My last hatch was a duck hatch, 6 of 6 developed one quit but we had power go out at the stage where it quit, 5 hatched alive, 1 died later. 4 out of 6 in the end is good with shipped eggs (probably all 6 would have made it without the outage).

My hatch rates have been mostly decent, the only ones that did really bad were ones banged up in shipping (and no mater what incubator those go in its the same story). Its been running a lot without issues here, last year we had a lot of hatches with it. If the fan goes those are not hard to find, and would be an easy fix.

Yep but until my sportsman gets here I will keep using the suro

Maybe I got lucky, its not been giving me flack, wonder if they changed factories?.
I put $110 a dzn eggs in there last year got some nice looking orps.

Can anyone advise me?

My temp says 37.5. Internally 34.

If I turn up to 42 it reads 35-37

So do I need a new element or new temp chip??

Humidity pump doesn't work motor corroded while back

What are you using to measure the internal temperature? I use a Brinsea Spot Check and if I completely trust it over the bator reading then I get reasonable results. It's scary though when your bator reads 42 though, I know, I also had that issue last week. If you are totally sure your internal themometer is accurate then you can calibrate the machine by pressing all three buttons (+ - ok) at the same time and entering the new temp by using + or -. Best of luck, I know how frustrating these machines can be, especially when you spent a lot of money for something you were supposed to be able to set and leave.
