I agree, me too. I only intervene when many hours have gone by and they are getting really alarmed. The poor squirrel was going to stroke out (usually they are more mellow) - finally, I put peanuts just outside the door so his friends would be nearby and that eventually worked!

I've had a chipmunk, a squirrel, a Carolina Wren twice, and sparrow get into the back porch...I left them and they managed to get themselves out... the Wren was scolding me from the top of one of the decorations...LOL
