the egg I have is trying to open,there is a whole the size of a dime on top,But it has been trying to get out since yesterday afternoon.
Question should I help it out?or leave it a lone.The whole has gotten bigger each time but it just seems like it taking to long.

I would suggest letting nature take it's course. We have only hatched once and had one egg do the same thing. We helped the chick hatch only to watch it suffer and die despite all of our best efforts, this was a tough life lesson for the kids. ( our 10 yr old discovered the chick had died) There are others on BYC who have had success helping but I doubt we ever would again. If the chick can not hatch on it's own there is probably a reason. This is only my opinion and the decision is yours to make. Good luck. Maybe it will hatch on it's own?

It can take awhile for the chick to "break out" of the shell. our first thought is to help, you should let it hatch on its own. Chances are it will be fine, they have been doing this for thousands of years.

if you see the chick become more and more weaker usually signed by his sound and movement become slower, you should help him, else don't help it yet.

provide a towel/cloth that is very2 wet poured with warm (near a little hot) water and slowly open the shell piece by piece using your nail. that's all i do with my duck, i think chick even stronger to survive than duck.

It can take 24 hours or longer from pips to zipping out. Patience!

I had recently this past few days a chick pip...26hrs, and then zip...on the 19th day at about 8pm...and it didnt hatch out until the next day at 220pm...so it can take a while...

well I have found if there is no progress in 24 hours after the initial pip that something is keeping it from zipping. I know this is not the way most people think but If I see no progress in an egg after 24 hours I then assist, starting out slowly, I always find an isue when I do this, like the chick got shrink wrapped or something like that. I used to let nature take its corse but now I pull them out and help them out if the bator is not full of other eggs.

It is all a matter of personal experience and your gut feelings I think, cause when I see an egg pipping and not progressing after a long enough time I get this feeling that it is stuck, I go with that feeling and am usually right.
